Steel Magnolia

An old friend started reading my blog today, and the magnolia trees in my front yard are in full bloom. So this pic is for her --->
I miss you!! Come back to Texas!!

What I Wore While Missing Magnolia:

  • purple skirt (Lane Bryant)
  • short sleeve peasant blouse (Simply Fashions)
  • black wooden bead belt (thrifted)
  • teal suede heels (via Macys)
  • emerald earrings (gift)
  • brooch, worn as necklace (brensgemstonejewelry's Etsy shop)
  • teal bangle (Lane Bryant)

Today's Bar on Trial:

Today's bar had a nice flavor. And I really liked the fact that the ingredients are all basic, no chemicals I can't pronounce. 200 calories.

What I Ate While Balancing Calories With Going Out:

CHEESE FRIES!!!!!!!

Don't worry. I didn't actually eat this. But these are my favorite cheese fries and they were on the table. I actually managed to avoid eating them, even after reaching out for them a few times. Instead I split a smoked salmon sandwich and had a cup of french onion soup (no bread or cheese, and no pic. oops). That gave me enough room to join everyone in a beer. Blanche De Bruxelles. Yum

Total for the Day: 4 glasses of water, 1850 calories, no exercise

I'm interested in seeing a close-up of the belt. Oh and I finally went to Michael's to buy the leather tie for my necklace. So I plan to wear it soon in your honor :-) because it was truly a great idea!

I'm working on cataloging my wardrobe right now, so I have a pic of it in my flickr account.

have you ever seen Liam Sullivan as "Kelly"? you know...the whole "let me borrow that top! you're not even wearing it!" thing?

There was a magnolia tree in my grandparents front yard when I was a kid, and I used to climb it and pick the blooms. I've always loved them since then. Thanks for posting a picture that brought back good memories :)

Ooooooooooooh, I love your shoes! I'm going to go poke around your flickr set to look at them all!

I'm impressed by your cheese fry resolve! They look pretty tasty, except for those giant jalepenos. My tolerance for spice is still pathetic, though I'm working on it!

Awww, you're so sweet. Triple tears for missing you. I love the necklace and shoes, oh la la. And uh yeah, the fries too. I want to try the bar, where did you buy it?

I love that necklace! It makes me want brooches!

You always have great accessories, Tina! I love that necklace.

Those fries, frankly, look gross.

Give yourself a huge pat on the back for not touching those fries.

Such a beautiful shirt today :)

ShopKim - that's great! You need to show me what you purchased. I love etsy.

eednic - Kelly is funny! I'm officially hiring a guard for my shoe shrine. LOL

Diana - I'm glad it brought back some good memories. I used to climb them as a kid. Not very safe since they are so soft, but lots of fun.

Jess - sorry I don't have very much stuff posted for my online wardrobe yet. I need a new camera. I am also a spice wimp. I use copious amounts of ranch dressing for dipping to counteract the jalapenos. Which is yet another reason I can't eat cheese fries. I double the calories with just ranch!

Magnolia - It's my fave bar. The Old Monk. They have the best selection of beer, plus a full bar, and a great menu. Come to Dallas!!!

Kaylyn - I fell in love with brooches again about 3 monbths ago. I highly recommend them!

Sheila - thanks! I love your accessories too.

Sher - Thank you! I was really proud of myself too. I hope I can stick with it.
