The Witching Hour

Well the withching hour is almost upon us. Halloween is my favorite holiday and I have no plans this year. Oh well.

For a little fun, after work I drove around my neighborhood and took pictures with people's yard decorations. Inflatable pumpkins, graveyards, witches in trees, etc. Unfortunately the sun was starting to set so some of the pics were blown out. And I got some odd looks from my neighbors. LOL

What I Wore While Stalking Yard Decor:

2009-10-30 combo

  • jeans ("curvy" Gap)
  • black v-neck T (swap)
  • grey vest (Goodwill)
  • black cropped jacket (Newport News)
  • silver/black chain necklace (local charity shop)
  • black earrings (Ross?)
  • black fishnet trouser socks (Lane Bryant)
  • black flats (Simply Vera via Kohls)
  • cotton bracelet (handmade by Maria)
  • leather/silver cuff (via Ross)

What I Ate That Was Better Than Usual:

2009-10-30 food

  • breakfast: cheesy egg, alternative bagel, 3 cuties
  • lunch: turkey Buddig sandwich, grape tomatoes, lite yogurt, apple
  • snacks: two bars, string cheese
  • dinner: chinese delivery *
* Usually when we order chinese, I get General Tso's Chicken, which is the worst thing on the menu. The last two times we've ordered chinese, I got chicken and snow peas instead. It's not fried! And with all the water chestnuts and snow peas, it's so much less meat. Maybe ordering chinese isn't a smart choice, but it's progress!

Exercise Update:

I talked to a doc about my ankle and was told that I needed to rest it for 6 weeks b/c I messed up the ligaments when I twisted it after falling down the stairs. This was particularly disappointing b/c I have been waiting to tell you all about something that I was supposed to start this week - ballet classes! AND someone gave me a treadmill last week, which hasn't even gotten to be used once by me b/c I sprained my ankle right before I was getting ready to get on it for the first time. So, no advanced hula hooping classes, no beginners ballet classes, and no treadmill.

Great layering - I love this casual look on you. I also have serious hair envy, have I ever mentioned that?

Good for you for choosing a better option with your Chinese food! I like chop suey as well, but Thai is my favourite (not so much corn starch in the cooking).

Check your G-mail - I found the skirt!!

Tina, I usually just lurk, but I hve to say that I love this look on you. It's so fresh and you look younger, probably because your work attire is more formal and conservative (as it should be).

I think you should try to replicate the upper layering more because it is really that flattering on you. I think it makes you look smaller on top and works better for creating a leaner and more balanced figure than belting your waist as you often do.

Have you lost some weight?

Love it when a neighborhood gets in on the spirit. You are looking great in jeans!

I love this outfit! It's so hip and posh and downtown, especially with the rolled-up sleeves and chain.

Also, I too have hair envy.

Hope your ankle recovers soon!

Oh no, what rotten luck about your ankle! I hope that you're able to heal quickly so you can get back to the activities that you love.

Did you end up dyeing your hair? If so, I'm curious to know how it turned out!

I don't think I've tried a blazer over a waistcoat. I love the look on you, especially because the shape of the hems lines up so well and looks totally streamlined.

ShopKim - thanks!

Maria - of course you do.

Sheila - thanks! Man, I've been getting a lot of hair comments lately. Usually my hair is a hot mess, but I guess it must be doing soemthing good lately. I just dyed it tonight. We'll have to see how that turns out.

R - I'm glad you delurked! It's always nice to say hi to someone new. And thanks for your input. I've definitely been trying to wear fewer belts lately. And no, I have not lost any weight. In fact, I've put on about 5 lbs. If you could see the pics I did not select for this post, you would see some significantly less flattering ones. I chose the skinny pic!

Brooke - thanks! I wish I could say that I was hip enough to roll my jacket sleeves, but this is just a jacket with short, banded sleeves.

Cindee - I know! Fishnet socks rule! It's a tiny surprise bit of sassiness for your feet!

Sharon - thanks!

Kari - thanks! I got lucky with the hemlines on the vest and jacket. Oh, and I just dyed my hair about 20 minutes ago.
