Copy Cat - The Bomb!

Sorry I've been MIA! It's been pretty crazy here for the last 7 days. I won't bore you with the details, but suffice to say that getting online wasn't a top priority. But I am back! And I decided to get back into the groove by copy-catting Sara of Bombshell Beauty. She wore this outfit last week.

Rand's Daily Outfit Assessment: "That's a really odd outfit. Maybe you want to change before you are seen in public with me?" Needless to say, I did not change. At first I thought he was objecting to the "dress" since it's really PJs, but he's the one who told me I should wear it as a dress sometime. Nope. I think he just didn't like the color combo and the shiny with the plain cotton. hmmm. Whatever.

What I Wore While Rand Disapproved:

2010-07-13 combo

  • green dress (acutally PJs, compliments of Lane Bryant)
  • shiny safari shirt (Lane Bryant)
  • gladiator sandals (Target)
  • earrings (via JC Penney)

Sorry, but no. Pajamas are meant to stay at home. That just looks baaaaaad.

Anon - I agree that in general PJs should stay at home. And I was initially hesitant to wear this nightgown as a dress. But I took it and several other dresses out of my closet and sat down and examined them. And I concluded that the dresses and the nightgown were made of the same thickness and quality of fabric, had similar detailing and stiching, and that the only difference was that I knew what section of the store I had picked the green one up in.

So while I appreciate the feedback and certainly accept that the outfit wouldn't apeal to everyone (like I said, Rand hated it), I respectfully disagree that just b/c the item came from one section of the store that is should never see the light of day. I personally feel that part of the fun of fashion is using things in new and unexpected ways.

If you hadn't said it was a nightie we NEVER would have known! I think it's a great combo!

This is just a styling question since I think the nightgown actually looks adorable as a dress. My question is about the shirt you're wearing over it. I've noticed that you and a few other bloggers like to wear belted tops or belted cardigans a lot. Do you intentionally tie the belt and pull the shirt open like that? It looks like the shirt wouldn't button and it looks a bit odd to me. I've noticed this with several of the cardigans you wear too. I hope that makes sense! I really do enjoy your blog and seeing your different outfits. :-)

I love being twinsies with you, Tina. :) You look gooood.

I like your version of the outfit - those earrings are great! And I also agree that it's perfectly fine to mix different genre of clothing.

Those pjs make one heck of a cute dress! :)

Of course I think you are looking great since I was inspired by your look today.

I really like the jacket in the lighter color!

I think I've read your blog a time or two, but never commented. I love the outfit...you can't even tell that the dress is actually pj's. I think you look super cute! I shop at Lane Bryant a lot and saw your post on their FB page.

it definitely does NOT matter what department the clothes came from! no one would have known the difference about your nightie/dress unless you had told us.

Silly Rand! You look adorable! :)

Well, it looks like you bought the shirt that you are wearing over top a size too small and you tried to make it work. Not a good look. Sorry.

I think you look awesome! That color is great on you and the fact that you took a piece and thought outside of the box is fantastic!

I totally love this whole outfit! I don't know what Rand was talking about.

I love double duty clothing!

The PJs look like any other dress. It's not like you wore flannel plaid PJ pants out and about.

I've had my eye on that safari shirt... Your outfit made me want it even more! I just have to wait until it goes MEGA Clearance. :D

Keep up the awesomeness!

I agree...the whole pj/not pj doesn't mean a whole lot. I have some beautiful cacique pieces as well as just plain solid color sleep shirts that I'll wear out. I think it's cute :)

I think the outfit is great!

And for what it's worth, I would've given up on the yoga in favor of walking too. I can't handle yoga!
