Craigslist Treasure

Rand and I went to a local college to pick up a card catalogue that they had offered on Craigslist. I have wanted a card catalogue for a few years now so I am super excited. It is HUGE! Rand had a great idea that I could store my shoes in it. Can you picture it - with a little picture of each pair in the slot on the front the drawer. WHOOO HOOO!!!!

What I Wore While Buying a Card Catalogue:

2010-11-19 combo
  • black pencil skirt (hand-me-down from The Other Tina)
  • blue shell (Micheal Kors via Ross)
  • grey sweater jacket (via Goodwill)
  • patent pumps (Payless)
  • ring (compliments of Lane Bryant)
  • pins (from law school)
  • earrings (??)

I am so jealous!!! I have wanted a card catalog for a long, long time too! I found a gorgeous wood one a couple of months ago but it was $1900 and needless to say stayed at the antique store. Congrats on your new baby!! :-)

Kimberly - too bad you don't live down here. They had two of them for $50 each. The guy who was there getting the second one decided he didn't want it but we didn't have room for two of them.

OMG! I want one too! Like Kimberly, I've seen some before, but they were always way too much for a lil ol' grad student like me. :( I never thought of putting shoes in one before... that sounds AMAZING!

I'm a little worried that my heels won't fit in the drawers, but I've got other ideas just in case.

Will shoes fit in a card catalog? I have small feet (size 5 or 5.5) and I can't picture my shoes fitting. But it would be great for accessories: tights, belts, scarfs, etc.

Can't wait for a picture, because I'm having a hard time imagining it too. ;)

Can we see a picture of the card catalog?

Many card catalogs still have a metal bar in the middle of the drawer (that's what the cards hung on) so you'll have to see how easy they are to remove.
Mimi -- the librarian, who never actually had to use a card catalog in her job.

I love, LOVE those tights and that gray jacket. So adorable! The pop of blue is just perfect too.

Dr. Da - I just checked and my flats and kitten heels fit, but my regular pumps are about 1/2 inch too big which of course means that my platforms are way too tall. Oh well.

whenlivehandsyouapear - I've got a picture coming in the next post!

Shawnee - You got it, Girl. Picture on the way!

Mimi - the bar is low enough that it's not a problem, but my heels are just a tiny bit too big. I always wanted to be a librarian...

Melissa - thanks! You have no idea how excited I am that it's finally cool enough for tights here.

Sarah - all the credit for the great idea goes to Rands. Sadly, it isn't going to work. :(
