Fairy Tale

After I was finished getting ready this morning, Rand said to me "You look like a fairy." Odd, b/c I felt like a ballerina and repeatedly referred to this skirt as my tutu. (It's a sheer layer over a satin underlayer.) I felt very girly. Just how I like it!

What I Wore While Channeling Ballerina Fairies:

  • pink skirt (thrifted, Goodwill $1.50!!)
  • orange blouse (Apt 9)
  • paisley belt (via Ross?)
  • silver bangles (??)
  • olive wedges (BCBGirls)
  • green pearl earrings & necklace (boutique in New Orleans)
What I Ate After Trying to Force-feed my Cat Painkillers:

  • "chicken" parmesan made with a Quorn patty, pasta sauce, and part skim mozzarella
  • 1.5 c spaghetti squash w/ 1/2 c pasta sauce
  • 1 medium glass of white wine
  • side salad w/ romaine, zucchini, yellow squash, and carrots

What I Did That Was Twice As Much Exercise As I Intended:

Don't get too excited. It was twice as much as not much! I woke up early this morning (yay! the effects of caffeine have finally left me so I can wakeup in the mornings again!!) and I told myself that I needed to get a tiny bit of exercise, which of course I didn't want to actually do once I was up. But I told myself all I had to do was walk once around the park across the street. That would be 1/2 mile. Not exactly a marathon sweat session, but better than reading my Google Reader with curlers in my hair, right? Well, I actually went around twice, so I got in a nice easy mile. Then I put my curlers in. Ha!

Total for the Day: 1675 calories, 8 glasses of water, 1 mile of walking

your paisley belt is totally rad. and i love that skirt! i feel a goodwill shopping trip (or maybe salvation army) coming up, like, tomorrow. because i'm calling in sick. because there is a raccoon living in my chimney and it woke me up and now i can't go back to sleep and meh.

Cute! Sometimes you just feel like wearing pink :o)

Oh, and feeding cats pills is the worst!

I had to pill one of my cats, every day, for 28 days. He wouldn't let me touch his neck or head again for months afterwards (because I'd grab him by the scruff of the neck, pry his jaw open, and toss a butter coated pill down his throat).

I think you should walk WITH curlers in your hair! And maybe a snazzy headscarf too. :)

Who *doesn't* want to look like a ballerina fairie princess? All you need now is a pony. And maybe a unicorn.

That skirt is totally cute :)

That is one of the pluses of having a Labrador- the breed eats anything and everything.

Love the belt. Mmm...and the spaghetti squash. I can eat an entire one myself: I toss it with a little parmesan or asiago, some cracked black pepper and sea salt. Yum!

Good for you for getting in some early exercise! Woo hoo!

eednice - I see from your blog that you made it to the Salvation Army and found some good things. Way to go!

ShopKim - Thanks so much!

Lola - I'm coming to terms with the fact that pink is good for me. And yes, why can't they make liquid drugs or something for cats?

Kasmira - thanks for the advice and the follow-up emails. I wish I could say it worked. It didn't get the pill down, but there wasn't any frothing, at least.

Jess - if I had a unicorn, do you think it would pose for pics with me? And yes, labs are great pets!

MissAmy - thanks!

Kaylyn - thanks! I was really happy with the 50% off skirt. Otherwise I might not have even tried it on.

Joanna - spaghetti squash is a total hit in my house, even with Rand who pretty much hates all veggies.

Brooke - thanks! I really made an effort to work color into my wardrobe about 10 years ago. It takes some getting used to, but eventually you don't have any fear of color.

Sheila - mmm. that sounds yummy. I'l have to try it. I'm happy to say that I've been walking the last 2 mornings too. 2 miles today. yay! Maybe I'll form a habit soon.
