Pretty in Pink

There were a ton of people in the rooftop pool on a hotel next to my office building. So we all spent 2 minutes oggling them. Yep, we're classy people.

What I Wore While Watching People on the Rooftop Pool:

  • black/cream paisley skirt Merona/Target)
  • salmon short sleeve knit shirt (
  • pink leather belt (Faded Glory/Walmrt)
  • faux pearl necklace, extended by me (?)
  • faux pearl bracelet (?)
  • silvertone/black enamel stretch bracelet (?? via Ross)
  • mother of pearl earrings (Target)
  • pink strappy heels (Nine West)
  • embroidered purse (inherited from Grandma)
What I Am Eating For Breakfast and Lunch This Week:

  • 1/4 c. quinoa
  • 1 T unsweetened coconut
  • 1 medjule date
  • 1 banana

  • turkey sausage wrap (1 low carb tortilla, 1/4 c 2% cheddar, 3 oz smoked turkey sausage)
  • 1 carrot
  • 2 celery stalks
  • 1 small fuji apple

Today's test bar: Kashi Go Lean Oatmeal Raisin Cookie bar. 280 calories. It was huge and very filling, but it had that too-sweet white coating on the outside. Gross.

What I Ate While Wishing My Oven Didn't Make My House 80 Degrees:

Total for the Day: 1730 calories, 7 glasses of water, no exercise

You look stunning in pink. You also look so slim - I don't mean that as an underhanded comment either - it's SO good on you. So good.

My oven made our place SO HOT tonight. The pizza, however, was totally worth the sweat!

I love this outfit! ou really look great. All your hard work is showing. Curious about the quinoa mixture. Is it like an oatmeal type of meal?

All your dishes are making me very hungry. I want to lick the screen *LOL* I think I'm going to try a few of your recipes out soon. I am such a bad cook though, I won't be posting pics of the results.

I think pink is so your colour. You look great. That purse is amazing too. I so badly need more purses, but I'd be happy to start with something like that!!

What is this quinoa/coconut/date thing? Sounds good! Do you eat it right out of the jar, or do something else to it first?

Also agree with Honeybunches - pink, black, and white looks great!

Thanks, Everyone. You are making my head sping with the compliments. I felt pretty, which was fun. I've pretty much always hated pink, but over the last few years it has started to grow on me. Maybe I need to consider wearing it more often.

Ally - When we decided to go to bed, we discovered our A/C wasn't putting out cold air. It really made me regret using the oven. But man, those chicken fingers are SO GOOD!

Hillary & Lola - Quinoa (kEEn-Wa)is actually a seed, but it is eaten like a grain. It has a fairly pungent smell and is really high in protein and fiber. I've eaten it for breakfast for two different weeks so far. The first time I ate it with a little peanut butter and raisin, and then this time with the dates and coconut. It was much better the first time. I'm just experimenting.

I eat it straight out of the jar. If I was eating it at home I would make it in a bowl, but I cook a batch of it on Sunday and then jar it up for the week (I do the same thing with my lunches). I just use old mayo jars, which is perfect.

Deborah-lee - I wish I could take credit for my meals but most of them are recipes I've found online. I usually try to link to the recipe, so you should definitely try some out. Heather (theWWChick) has great ones posted on her blog that I steal all the time.

Thanks for the reply. I love quinoa, and have even eaten it as a breakfast food myself. It's great with just a little cinnamon and sugar sprinked on. I made up a big batch once and used a splash of milk to kind of reconstitute it after it had been stored in the fridge.

eednic, Kelly, Stacy, Brooke, Sher, Diana & Erin - Thanks so much! Y'all are making me blush.

Lola - I haven't tried it with cinnamon and sugar. I'll have to give it a whirl next time.
