We Will, We Will Rock You, Rock You!

If you read Sunday's post about the jewelry Maria loaned me, you will recognize this necklace from the Rock It Challenge she issued. To help you determine if it is The Rock It Challenge Piece, I will describe it a little bit for you.

It's made of wooden and stone beads of various sizes and shapes. No two beads are alike. Most of the beads are wooden and they are painted in shades of brown, black, and metallic silver, plus a few are natural. They are strung on a black thread of about the same weight as for a string of pearls. All the beads are knotted in place. If I had to guess, I would say it's from the 90s, but that's a total guess.

So, what do you think? Is this the challenge piece?

What I Wore While Rockin' a Beaded Necklace:

  • maroon tulip skirt (Lane Bryant)
  • brown/cream flutter sleeve, sheer, zebra print blouse (Lane Bryant)
  • bead necklace (borrowed from Maria)
  • amber necklace (gift from Rand)
  • black/cream wooden stretch bracelet (??)
  • silvertone/tortoise earrings (via Macy's)
  • skinny black belt (Nine West)
  • maroon suede heels (Jessica Simpson, thrifted Goodwill) *

* in the light in my house, these shoes went quite well with the skirt, but as soon as I stepped into the flourescent light of my office building, not so much. Oh well. It was better than the alternative of wearing my driving shoes all day. Yikes!

What I Ate After Giving Myself a Stern Talking To:

I had to have a little come to Jesus meeting with myself yesterday. It took me 2 months to lose 10 pounds, and 3 weeks to gain 6. Not cool, Tina, not cool. You deserve better than that. Treat your body better! So, no drinking and no weekday splurge meals this week. We bought groceries and made a meal plan.

Hopefully I can get back on track. I am seriously considering Weight Watchers. I might go to a free meeting this week to check it out.

Tonight we had the most awesome veggie pizza! (We use store bought crust.)

Total for the Day: 1676 calories, 7 glasses of water, 10 minutes of frisbee (not really exercise, but there was a little running involved)

That necklace is way too reasonable to be 'the challenge necklace'. I'm sticking with the elephant on this one.

You'll get yourself back on track- I know you can do it! It's hard to change a lifetime of habits. Sheryl (*Bitch Cakes*) had a great statement on her blog- it's not about perfection, it's about persistence. As cheesy as it sounds, I keep reminding myself of that and a few other handy quotes and they've helped me get back on track.

Here, I'll even be your personal cheerleader (we all need a few).
GO TINA! YOU CAN DO IT! RA! RA! RA!

There, I even added some 'ra's for good measure.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has Come to Jesus meetings with herself. I have GOT to stop drinking and eating out during the week. It sounds like I have a drinking problem when I say that, but I cannot lose weight and drink beer. My body just won't do it.

Good luck, honey!

Thanks, Jess. That was really sweet. We all need a cheerleader in life, and I especially appreciate the "rahs". And I love BitchCakes, although I must admit I enjoy her blog more when she talks about her life than when she recaps the WW meetings. She has good insight, that's for sure.

eednic - thanks!

Ally - I hear you loud and clear! Why does beer taste so good but have such bad results? Not fair, I tell ya!

I love the shoes - and I have had that exact same thing happen to me (with tights)! How annoying is that?

Weight Watchers has worked well for me - I still go to the meetings every week. Give it a try!

And frisbee is so exercise, girl! Everything that makes your body move counts! Even shopping. :)

Sheila - tights are the worst for that color deception thing, aren't they? I do that all the time. I might talk to you some time about WW sometime, if you don't mind.

Honey & Coco - thanks so much!

I love that whole outfit. So colorful and summery and sophisticated!

I really admire your way with a bold necklace. They intimidate me, but I think you make them look great. :)

I think you definitely rocked this necklace! Kind of goes with the current safari trend too.
