Mad Men Your Hair!

I woke up this morning and was inspired to actually do something complicated with my hair. I've been watching a lot of Mad Men lately, and this hairstyle ------> really caught my eye. So I spent quite a bit of time braiding, then putting up, then coiling and pinning my hair. (You can't tell from this pic, but the back has a series of little curles pinned into it.) But then I put my clothes on and the hairstyle was totally wrong for the outfit. So I let down the back half of my hair and just left the braid and the bump. Meh.

What I Wore That Didn't Match My Hair:

  • skirt (Lane Bryant)
  • cowlneck sweater (Lane Bryant)
  • red tank (CAbi, thrifted Goodwill)
  • red suede pumps (Jessica Simpson, thrifted Goodwill)
  • broken earring (? Ross?)
  • necklace (hand-me-down from a friend)
  • bracelet (? Ross?)
  • white canvas studded belt (new, Goodwill)

What I Ate After Rand Stole My Lunch Bread:

  • breakfast: cheesy egg, Alternative bagel, figs from farmers market
  • lunch: buddig on hotdog bun, cantaloupe (didn't eat the watermelon), snap peas
  • snack: Stonyfield yogurt, Cliff Z bar, gala apple
  • dinner: whole wheat pasta with plain sauce, roasted squash, 1 glass red wine

Exercise:

Yesterday I walked down the stairs all the way to the lobby. That's 17 flights. While that didn't really take much effort, my calves are now killing me. My muscles feel like little rocks and I can barely walk. So, we only went for one walk today at work instead of 2 or 3.

Total for the Day: 27 points*, 3/4 mile walk

* my new minimum is 27

Ooh, make sure you give your calves a good stretch! You can strengthen your lower legs by just repeating with bare/sock feet: up on your toes...hold (it's harder than it sounds)...down...then lift your toes without rocking back on your heels (that will strengthen the fronts of your lower legs).

I do that exercise whenever I am standing anywhere (of course in shoes that aren't heels).

Bah- I hate it when an elaborate hairdo does not agree with my clothing. They take so much effort!

I love that outfit! So sweet and retro. And I think it's awesome that you experimented with your 'do. Very pretty.

Did you a "bump it" in your hair? I think it came out great! It's fun to try something new. And this is something that you should repeat.

I love Joan Holloway's hair style, and I love your interpretation of it. It makes me wish I had longer hair again.

Sheila - I completely forgot to stretch which is why is really hurt for so long. Bad Tina!

Jess - me too. What a waste!

Erin - you should have seen it when it was up. Impressive, if not flattering. ha!

Brooke - thanks! That's one of the things I like about having long hair. You can really play around with it.

Lorena - thanks!

Kayla - me too. I love seeing people wearing the same things I have. So inspiring.

Bianca - thanks!

Sher - I did bump my hair. A friend bought them and didn't like them so I inherited them.

Diana - I've been thinking about cutting mine off. The grass is always greener...
