Guest Bloggers Unite!

Rand's Daily Outfit Assessment: "You look like you are going to church. That's a church dress." What makes it a church dress? "It's got no cleavage." Not everything can have cleve, Rand. "I rest my case - church dress." I was laughing so hard. Sure, I wear my see-through*, bright red dress to church. Yeah, right. Sheesh.

* I had to dye a slip red specifically to wear under this dress, b/c it is completely sheer.

I got an email today from prior guest blogger Brooke. She and prior guest blogger Coco have struck out on their own and now have a daily fashion blog called The B/C Changeover. I was just getting ready to ask these lovely ladies if either of them wanted to do some fall guest blogging for me, but clearly the time for guest blogging has passed. They are all grown up and on their own. I am so proud. hehe. Seriously, go check them out.

What I Wore While Admiring The B/C Changeover:

2009-09-15 combo

  • red dress (handmade, Goodwill)
  • black beaded belt (Ninewest?)*
  • black/silver bead deco heels (Newport News)
  • black bead earrings (Ross?)
  • black ribbon necklace (Target)

* sadly the leather on the belt gave way in the middle of the day. I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to have it repaired or if I should just use the buckle and make my own belt with fabric or ribbon.

What I've Been Eating Confession Time:

I've been eating everything in sight. Fastfood, Little Debbies, random snacks, and dinner out every night for the last week. I told myself when I started this blog that I would document the good moments and the bad. And I haven't been trying to hide what I've been eating, but since I haven't been thinking about what I've been eating, I haven't been thinking about taking photos. And I've been eating so quickly that when I do remember that I should take a pic, I've already shoved it all down my gullet. It has not been good. And I feel gross. I miss veggies. So send good produce-filled thoughts my way. I'm hopinh to get it all back under control tomorrow.

You look lovely, Tina! This outfit has a very 80s vibe about it to me. I would keep the buckle and go buy a quality leather belt from a leather store.

Don't feel bad about your food - it happens (you should see me wolf down junk food - I'm doing a photo food diary all week and tonight is poker night with the guys, yikes, chips ahoy!). But one day or a couple days doesn't mean you have to give up. Just dust yourself off and get back on that veggie bandwagon, girl! You can do it! But please...forgive yourself and move on.

Sheila is right! Having been a yo-yo dieter for 30 years now-you need to look at this as a minor setback. Don't give up! I have done that a million times. You look fantastic! Look at some of your earlier pics and see how far you have come!!
BTW..The outfit is fabulous.

I know you can get back on track - especially since you love veggies so much!

We are kind of twins today! I am wearing my sheer, thrifed, (mauve not red) dress today! I wear a black slip beneath. Sexy.

You look great and those shoes are to die for! You must make an entrance when you go to church;)

Good luck too on your path to a healthier you. I truly enjoy reading your travels:)

Oh my gosh, thank you so much for the shoutout! I am so flattered to get a mention. And I am still up for guest-blogging any time. :)

I see where Rand is coming from with the church dress, though - it is appropriately modest in shape and fit, if not in color! This is something my (very stylish) grandmother might have worn in the forties. You look lovely.

I love the dress! You really find great things at goodwill. I've been eating bad too. I know exactly what gross feeling you're talking about so happy produce filled thoughts coming your way!

Church: the time for flashing. Hee hee!

Don't let it get you down- setbacks happen, it's a part of life! the important thing is to refocus and only look forward. You've worked so hard and made a lot of changes already, right? Just try to look back on those things when you start to feel off track!

I'll be thinking positive, nutritionally optimal thoughts for you :D

I can see where he gets the church thing, but I love it. It looks great on you, and those shoes are perfect with it.

I have cleavage at church. :)

Sheila - thanks for the words of support.

The Other Tina - yeah, that's how I try to think of it. So I am focusing on getting more veggies in again rather than stressing about the bad stuff.

Tori - thanks thanks thanks!

Kasmira - I should try this red dress with a black slip sometime for a date or something. I bet Rand would like that. Thanks for the idea!

Diana - thanks!

Anon - good idea! I think you could totally make a necklace like this. Be sure to send me a pic if you do.

Cindee - that's what I thought too! And about lawschool - I'm happy to discuss any time. I hope I was a little helpful, at least.

Penny - thanks! Luckily the people at churches in Dallas are spared my sheerness.

Brooke - excellent! I love being compared to someone who was stylish in the 40s. I love a good vintage vibe.

Honeybunches - thanks! I'll tell Rand too.

Kaylyn - thanks for the good produce thoughts. I need them! And I think I have found better stuff at Goodwill since I opened up my mind to a wider range of possibilities, like considering something that look dumpy and dated. I always drag a scarf and belt into the dressing room with me (and a cardigan if I have one on). That way I can see how soemthing looks in a more modern arrangement like I would wear it. Suddenly that matronly dress looks vintage and polished (and sometimes it still looks dumpy, but those just go back out on the rack.) Also, I go really frequently - so often I come home with nothing, but over the course of time I get some great finds.

Jess - thanks for the good nutrition thoughts. I had a carrots yesterday - maybe that was thanks to you!

Erin - I have cleavage everywhere usually. I guess that's why this dress disappointed Rand so much. ha!
