Manual Labor in a Skirt

I'm still not working so I can be more causal, but I get bored just wearing jeans. So today I threw on a casual skirt. This is actually a skirt that I took to the swap, but no one claimed it. So I took it back home and it was one of the things that I dyed on Monday. I've been intrigued by the combo of grey and brown lately, so I decided to dye the background grey. It didn't come out as dark as I wanted. That how these things go. I paired it with some of the items I got from the swap. In fact, I'm going to be wearing a lot of my swap items in the next few posts, so keep an eye out for them.

What I Wore While Shoveling Gravel:

2009-10-27 combo

(Yes, I was actually shoveling gravel in this outfit. It wasn't planned. I went outside to close the garage door for Rand, and I just grabbed the shovel and filled in some holes in the driveway for about 15 minutes.)

  • grey/brown skirt, overdyed (Target)
  • grey tights (Target)
  • brown shirt (I've had it for years, I have no clue)
  • brown suede boots (SWAP!!)
  • silver tone earrings (SWAP!!)

I untucked the shirt during the day. I saw myself in a mirror at Target and decided the proportions were off with it tucked in.

What I Ate/Drank After Running Errands All Day Long:

2009-10-27 food

  • breakfast: fried egg sandwich, 2 cuties
  • snack: 19 rice crackers, no pudge brownie
  • dinner: smoked salmon sandwich, side salad, 4 beers, 1 tequila shot

I didn't eat lunch b/c I was out running errands and didn't get home until late afternoon. I usually carry fruit and bars in my purse, but I had taken them out in the morning. Silly Tina. I know I didn't eat enough; I'll do better tomorrow.

Total for the Day: 2 swapped items, 33.5 points

i looove the tights. nice job on the skirt. and WOW, nice score with those boots from the swap! sounds like it was super fun. i agree that the shirt out would be more proportional here- good call.

Honeybunches - that's the best thing about fall: tights!

ShopKim - Thanks! I'm still not sure about the grey dye job on the skirt, but I'm sure I'll wear it again.

Thrifty - I know! Did I get lucky at the swap or what? But I think everyone felt like they got lucky, which is the best.

Erin - LOL. Well, I have your giveaway prize still too. And I didn't know those were your earrings. Excellent. I have a whole ErinLoveDesigns section in my jewelry box now. :)

Awesome boots! And you've confirmed for me that I need to get some open-patterned tights, yours look so awesome!

Tina,

can I ask where are the boots from? I know they were thrifted, but I have large calves, too, and it is so hard to find boots that fit, even the slouchy ones.

TIA!

Becky - thanks! I've been looking for some more open patterned tights myself lately, but I'm not having much luck finding anything in my sizes. I can't find fishnets either, which makes me want to cry.

R - I have 5 pairs of knee high boots. 3 are Cloudwalkers from Avenue. They are my favorite brand and always fit me, and I have 18 1/2 inch calves. But the're selection this season isn't as good as in years past. I also have a pair that I just got at the Lane Bryant outlet and I love them. This pair in this photo is from the swap, and they didn't really fit my calves until I did some surgery on them. And I have no idea what brand they are. Sorry. But check out Avenue and Lane Bryant!

Lisa - thanks!
