It's Closet Time

Today was new closet day! I've been living out of wardrobe boxes and piles for almost 2 months, which, as you can guess, sucks. During that time I've been to Home Depot a jillion times, the Container Store and Target's closet aisle a couple of times, and visited exactly 46 thousand website about closet design. I finally decided (with some prodding by a very generous Rand) to just buy an elfa closet from Container Store while they were 30% off (until Feb 15th, BTW!!!). The room that we converted to a closet was just too weird to be able to make it a DIY project, not matter how much I pondered the situation. Plus, in the end it was going to cost almost as much as having an elfa design. The 30% sale really got me thinking, and Rand just pushed me over the edge, and I am so glad he did because I HAVE A CLOSET AGAIN!!! I'll post a video of it as soon as the backordered shoe shelf is installed.

What I Wore While My New Closet Was Installed:

2010-02-08 combo

  • black skirt (Lane Bryant)
  • black turtleneck sweater (Target)
  • green tweed balzer (Lane Bryant)
  • multi colored scarf (Old Navy?)
  • green necklace (Lane Bryant)
  • green pearl earrings (boutique in New Orleans)
  • black heels (Nicole Miller)
  • black fishnets (Target)
What I Ate While Wishing My Head Would Just Fall Off:

2010-02-08 food

  • breakfast: oatmeal & barlely with cream, apple
  • lunch: chicken sandwich, zucchini, orange, sun chips
  • snack: yogurt, SoyJoy, grapes
  • dinner: 4 oz longhorn steak, 6 oz oven roasted potatoes, asparagus
  • dessert: 7 almonds, 2 T reduced sugar icing (yes, I stuck my finger in the jar...twice)
Total for the Day: 28.5 points, no exercise, 2 glasses of water, 1 pounding headache, 1 new closet

Don't forget to sign up for the giveaway! A free purse is always nice!

I can't wait to see your new closet!

Reduced sugar icing? I had no idea there was such a thing. I am definitely going to buy some. And sticking your finger in the jar, that's totally required.

Congrats on the new closet. One of my favorite activities is clearing out and re-organizing my closets, dressers, and storage drawers. I envy you the chance to start from scratch and put everything away in a custom space. Have fun!

Hi Tina!

I'm enjoying your blog. Found you via "Euro Chic," also sending a link to my daughter. Looking forward to seeing the results of your closet. Though, my own wardrobe is sparse, I love seeing the way you put different items together.

And I appreciate your humor :-)

Becky - thanks!

Totally Inspired - oh, you HAVE to show us your closet. It's so much fun.

Heather - The reduced sugar icing is Pillsbury and it's great. Still not healthy, but better.

Kari - Well hopefully I'll get the closet finished soon, so I can video it for everyone, but you need to show us yours too!

Gina - thanks! I haven't worn this scarf in about 2 years. I forgot I even had it!

Sheila - Thanks!

Didi - you know, I thought I would love doing it too, but it was so stressful trying to figure out how to cram all the stuff I need into a small space AND do it on budget. I did love putting all my clothes init, though!

Erin - I wonder why I disappeared. I'll let you know if I stop posting. LOL

Jean - that is wonderful!! Thanks so much!
