I had so many people ask me what was different with my hair today - if I had died it a darker color or what. Even Rand thought I had gotten it cut. But it's just the return of faux bangs. I do this every once in a while. It helps prevent me from cutting bangs when I am getting bored with my hairs. See, about every 7 years or so, I go into a salon and ask for bangs, despite the fact that every time in my past that I have done this has been a disaster. My hair is not made for bangs. I have a small forhead, whispy hair in the front, and waves. I basically end up with a frizz pile on my forhead. Plus, it's not good for my round face. Then I discovered faux bangs. Perfection! I can play for a day with no committment, AND since it's just hair pinned to the side, it lays flatter and smoother than real bangs would on me. Yay!
What I Wore With Faux Bangs:
- purple cardi (Target)
- green tweed skirt (Lane Bryant)
- grey suede boots (Lane Bryant outlet)
- green necklace (Lane Bryant)
- green earrings (Ross?)

I love the green and purple color combo. Those grey boots are really cute too!
There's so much to love here: the purple and green look fantastic together, the grey boots go great with the other colors, and the (faux) bangs make me super jealous (bangs (even faux) + my curls = train wreck lol).
You're 100% awesome, ma'am.
I love when you do faux bangs! They are super cute and non commitment is an awesome thing when it comes to matters of the hair. And I heart your boots!
I loved this post! I last experimented with bangs in 2007 and I still cannot put them into a ponytail (my hair grows so slowly!). I made my hairsylist swear that she would never cut bangs on me again, even if I beg.
I've never seen faux bangs and will definitely try this the next time I am even slightly tempted!
thanks!
Your faux bangs are very convincing! I'm also impressed that you were able to put green and purple together and make it look chic instead of barney-esque! Love it!
Love the green and purple!
What a great idea with the faux bangs. I don't wear bangs well for similar reasons; I have fine wavy hair. I will definitely have to experiment with faux bangs.
super cool bangs! looks so natural!
Oh My Goodness!!!!! I needed this post last week. I went and got bangs this weekend and I hate them!!! My hair is the same way. It has a mind of its own. I don't care how much curling I do or hairspray I put on them, they still look like crap. Now I am praying for my hair to grow fast. LOL
this had never, never occurred to me. i can't wear bangs because of my curls (unless i wanted to spend all morning flattening them and then have them curl up by noon) and this is SUCH a cute way to cover up the aircraft carrier that is my forehead. THANK YOU!
i also love the colors here.
Love the purple/green/gray combo!
I also was tempted to get bangs after wearing fake ones for my Sarah Palin Halloween costume two years ago. But memories of my middle-school chicken puff convinced me that was a bad idea. My hair was NOT meant to be short.

Dr. Da - Thanks!
brittneynikkole - Thanks! Enjoy those curls! Everyone I know with straight hair wishes they had curls and vice versa. But I do imagine that bangs would be difficult if your hair is really curly.
K - thanks! I am definitely all about the non-commitment when it comes to bangs.
Lain - oh no! Two years to grow out bangs would definitely convince me to never try it again. Hilarious that you made your hairdresser promise.
Becky - Barney never even crossed my mind until you said that, which is a good thing, b/c he drives me crazy. You made me laugh!
Gina - good luck with the bangs experimentation!
BBM - thanks!
Leslie - oh no! I'm sorry to hear that. That sounds exactly like me when I get bangs.
Wicked Thrfity - if you decide to try it, send me a pic!
Brooke - um...can I request to see a picture of the chicken puff from middle school? I am intrigued. In middle school I was the queen of getting a perm and then brushing it. Frizz central!
