Another Ones Bites the Dust

It was mayhem today. First, I woke up at 3:30 am and could not go back to sleep. Then when Rand left for work, he came back in the house to tell me that my car had been broken into again, and this time they stole my car battery. And then when I got to work, I only worked a half day b/c they reduced staff size and I was part of the reduction. (This part was neither a surprise nor a big deal. I was hoping to finish early and I already have another contract job lined up). And finally, I spent 12 hours waiting on the police. In fact, I'm still waiting for the finger printing crew to arrive. I'm sleepy.

ETA: There has been a lot of concern expressed about me being safe, and someone even suggested maybe I have a stalker. I just want to put everyone's mind at rest. I live in a safe neighborhood. It's just that it's an urban neighborhood, so there is a lot more random traffic that comes through unlike in suburbia. We don't get any major crimes, we just have to deal with petty things like car break-ins. Everyone who has lived on my street says that they go years without any issues, and then after a few years, for a few weeks in a row a bunch of cars get broken into. Apparantly, this is one of those times. It is not directed specifically at me; a bunch of cars had the same thing happen the same night. I appreciate all the concern, so I just wanted to be sure everyone knows that I am safe. Thanks!

My goodness, is your neighborhood that crime-ridden? How upsetting...

Love the colors of that sweater at least! :)

I love the cardi and the belt.

So sorry about your car - that truly bites the big one. Hope today is a much better day.

Oh my gosh, that's awful about your car, Tina! I'm so sorry to hear about that.

But you look fabulous! :)

This used to happen to me when I lived in Atlanta...so frustrating!!! And the worst part is is that the window they smash is worth more than what they steal!!

I actually got to the point where I left my car doors unlocked and made sure nothing was left inside...they could rummage for something that wasn't there and my windows stayed intact!

Well, that plain sucks!! You looked great though.

P.S. I can see your tripod in the reflection off your car - heehee!

Oh, no. So sorry to hear!

Oh man, I'm sorry.

I am impressed the cops offered to come at all, they told us there was no point.

It's not an unsafe neighborhood, guys. I suspect this is the local teens. It's been a thing for a long while. No houses get broken into that I know of, just cars, and they steal little things like CDs and stereos, and it's annoying and horrible when it happens to you, but it's not unsafe.

Sure it's not that crazy guy that was putting his fist in your window at the parking garage....be safe, sounds like you have a stalker or something. Didn't you just move, geez! the nerve of people! sorry about your bad luck

Hey Tina!

I'm catching up on blogs tonight; it's been a while since I've stopped by. Sad to read about the car and job. . . BUT, GLAD to read you've got something else lined up! No matter what the day brought your way, you STILL look fabulous!

Take care, Jean

ps: You possess a consistently upbeat and genuine spirit in your blog writing. I appreciate your inspiration.

Please be careful, Tina!!!! You are handling this so much better than I would!

Jess said...

Oh that sucks! You certainly seem to be handling it well though! A friend of mine also lives in a perfectly nice area, but had her tires stolen twice in a two week period. Crazy.

That sucks about your car! Hopefully it will quickly get to the years-without-problems portion. On a brighter note - the cardigan is so freaking cute!

Sucka about the car, but at least you looked great!

I'm a long-time lurker and this outfit inspired me to comment.

These colors work really, really well with your eyes. I'd never noticed how blue they are.

Now I seem creepy. I live in Boston, so you have nothing to worry about. :)

But seriously. Great colors for you! Great outfit.

Thanks again everyone! Your concern is very much appreciated. I do try not to take these things too much to heart. I can't change anything, so why freak out about it? I like to just move forward and make things better. So, I kept an upbeat attitude and took care of business. And, we installed a motion sensor flood light that shines right on my car, so hopefully it will be too bright for any repeats. Let me tell you, our front yard and porch looks like it's high noon out there! LOL

And now we have a running joke in our house about whether or not my car was broken into over night.

Thanks again, everyone!
