Paisley Mixing!

I thought I would try a different type of pattern mixing today. I paired this skirt with the cardigan b/c they both have a similar paisley pattern as well as the same purple. I really liked it in concept, but I'm not sure how well it played out. Give me your honest opinion: thumbs up or thumbs down on this mix?

What I Wore That Was a Paisley Explosion:

2010-04-28 combo

  • paisley skirt (Target)
  • purple T (Daisy Fuentes via Kohls)
  • paisley cardi (Lane Bryant)
  • purple ruffle flats (via DSW)
  • green wooden bangle (Lane Bryant)
  • owl necklace (via Goodwill)
  • green earrings (hand-me-down)
  • sweater clip (borrowed from Kasmira)
What I Ate With a Good Friend:

2010-04-28 food

  • breakfast: scrambled egg
  • lunch: veggie and tofu salad (Greenz)
  • snack: frozen yogurt with mochi (Red Mango)

I don't know how I feel about the pattern mixing (I'm not a good judge of those things). I will say though that I think you look hot in the outfit. I really love how the cardigan and purple T look together (both the cut and colors). And I love the owl necklace.

I am not a fan of this particular mix, I think because the skirt comes across as muddy with its beige background vs. the crispness of the top. That skirt doesn't photograph well.

You, however, look awesome! I love your hair like that.

I like your pattern-mixing experiments, but I think that these paisleys are a bit too close together. Also that skirt is kind of eating your waist.

I definitely agree with Shelia though - your skin and hair look amazing! :)

The skirt's pattern is so muted that I think it's a pretty safe foray into pattern mixing.

Yay! You are wearing the sweater clip!

The pattern-mixing itself is pretty good, but I am not fond of the skirt on you. I think the high waist hides your pretty curves.

Zeus' Mom - thanks! That was a very diplomatic comment. :)

Sheila - I think you are right about the skirt. It is a lovely subtle pattern in person, but it does not photograph well at all. Now I need to decide if I want to keep it.

Brooke - "eating your waist" ha! It has definitely come right up to under my boobs, but I think that may have more to do with what I've been eating. LOL

Kasmira - the sweater clip is awesome!! It's making me wear my cardigan in a totally new way for me.

Kristin - Thanks for the honest feedback. I am leaning towards getting rid of the skirt. Thanks!
