Friday Night Dinner Date

I am still behind on my posts, so this is from last Friday. I didn't work that day, so I sat around in my PJs until mid-afternoon. It was lovely. That night, we went to our friends' house for dinner and games. I totally forgot to take pics of the food, which is too bad b/c she made a gorgeous and super-delish dinner. I totally need to get the recipe from her.

Since I knew we would be doing some sword fighting action on the Wii while we were there, I put leggings on under my dress. This is a new step for me. I haven't worn leggings since the 90s. I've always followed the "if you wore it the first time it was in fashion, you are too old to wear it when it comes back in fashion" rule. I'm glad I broke it for this, b/c this was so comfy and practical for the evening. Plus, it allowed me to continue my total domination at side-by-side slicing of random items.

What I Wore While Sword Slicing:

2010-05-07 combo

  • black leggings (NY&Co.)
  • chambray shirt-dress (Old Navy)*
  • black ruffle flats (maurices)
  • headband (Ross?)
  • earrings (Ross?)

* Believe it or not, I had just ironed this sucker. Clearly it's just going to be a wrinkly piece of clothing.

You definitely aren't too old to be rockin' the leggings. Love the look and gorgeous headband too!

I got that same shirt dress from ON and was going to wear it this exact way! Super cute on you! I thought the material for the dress was way too see through, so I returned it....boo. I love it on you!

I have the same dress, except in the denim version, and I love it! It is a super wrinkly piece though.

Luckily things never come back EXACTLY the same way. There is always something that makes it a touch more modern, such as not wearing the leggings with bright purple Reeboks, or no stirrup on the legging etc. ;-)

I think you looked great and very comfy! :-)

I felt the same way about leggings, but they're so damn comfy. And this outfit is perfectly appropriate. As long as you aren't wearing them like the undergrads at my school (I.e., with a short top so everyone can see, well, EVERYTHING) I think you're fine.
