Contractor Overload

So I mentioned that we had a catastrophe at the new house. The sellers of the house already had the utilities off when they removed their fridge. As a result, they must not have thought about having to turn off the water to the icemaker. So when we had the utilities turned back on, it started pumping one gallon of water per minute into our kitchen - for 9 hours! Needless to say, it ruined the kitchen. I am not happy.

So we've had water mitigation experts, contractors, etc out to the house plus all the delivery guys and repairmen for unrelated things. Monday, I met 3 different crews of guys at the house before I went to work.

What I Wore While Meeting 97 Different People At the New House:

2010-08-02 combo
  • brown skirt (Lane Bryant) *
  • red shirt (via Kohls)
  • brown belt (Dots)
  • leopard pony hair pumps (John David)
  • maroon ring (etsy)
  • red earrings (street vendor in Austin)
  • hair stick (chopstick from Asian grocery store)
* Yes, I know it's a little tight. :( All my money is going to house repairs, so I guess I better lose a little weight since I don't have the money to buy new skirts.

How I made this outfit more conservative:
  • I wore my hair up
  • minimal jewlery
  • traditional shape
How this outfit still represented me:
  • chopstick!
  • button ring = fun
  • fun belt
Assessment - I felt like this was a very appropriate outfit (and the skirt loosened up) for my new office.

What I Ate That Did Not Help My Skirt Fit:

2010-08-02 food
  • breakfast: Kashi, yogurt, blueberries
  • lunch: chicken friand, spinach salad (La Madeleine)
  • dinner: grilled eggplant, chicken, whole grain roll, wine

I LOOOVE this outfit on you!

I went clothes shopping today and was trying to channel your amazing ability to put together outfits. It was tough!

Hope things get better with the house soon!

You look smokin', Tina! So chic - and I don't think that skirt is too tight...more like a sexy tight. :)

Good luck with the house - ugh, I know how awful water damage can be!

Oh WOW. That is a house catastrophe. Geez louise. I don't know how on earth you can keep up with this craziness!

My jaw dropped when I read about the 9 hours of gushing water. So sorry you had to go through that!

p.s. Love those shoes! And love that the outfit is conservative but still shows your wicked style.

Argh. I really hope you're able to get some sort of compensation for all of the repairs. That's awful.

This outfit is one of my favorites on you. The blouse color is beautiful, the skirt is gorgeous (I love the flare at the bottom), the ring is SUPER cute and the shoes...OH the shoes. I'm jealous.

Too tight - no way. You look fantastic. Great colors, great structure. Definitely a winner!!

You look beyond good...chic, sexy, and very slender, to boot! I kind of want this outfit.

On a sidenote, one of the things I've realized about myself is that I don't look good with belts on the outside of my shirts (just because of where my natural waist happens to be in relation to hips and bust...) and it makes me sad, because it always adds a little something that says, "I tried today!" Maybe that's why I like scarves so much...

I love the pop animal print to pump this up! And I love red with any animal print!

You look fabulous in this outfit. Someone above mentioned that you have the perfect hourglass shape - so true! And you know how to dress it.

Hey I think you look great. Sometimes I feel really confident and pleased with my body but my clothes disagree. I wish they could grow or decrease as we did.
