Trying New Things

This weekend I decided to try some new things.

First Rand and I bought a frisbee. Now, I have thrown a frisbee before in my life (gaugh! what? do think I was never a kid?!) but I haven't done it since I was a little kid. But we live across the street from a park, so we decided to buy one and see if either of us could actually still throw or catch a frisbee. I am happy to report that we can! Although I did lose some fingernails as a result. But I got some new highlights at my temples! Awesome!

Second, I've now eaten my way through 30 boxes of free SoyJoys (that's 180 bars, BTW) that I got from CVS. So no more free bars for our snacks. Prior to the motherload of free SoyJoys, we ate Fiber One bars. LOVE THEM! But you have been warned - you need to let your body adjust to them. And you can't take too many days off in between them or you have to get adjusted all over again. Despite my love, I'm taking this chance to try out some new options, which brings us to this puppy:

It's Whole Foods brand Organic Honey Roasted Granola Bar. It's 160 calories, and it grossed me out. It tasted very strongly of too-sweet honey and overpowering peanuts. I tasted nothing else. Blech! Next!

My third new thing this weekend was The Wave. Now I would never buy this thing, and I made fun of a friend when she bought one online a few months ago. But that didn't stop me from asking her if she liked it (hey the AbSlide was advertised on TV and looks retarded, but I do own one, and I love it.), and then asking if I could borrow it.

It wasn't a good sign when I promised to give it back in a week and she said to go ahead and keep it for a few months. Uh oh.

I've been slacking on the working out, and Rand was wanting to go somewhere, so I just crammed in the Express workout to give it a try. Of the 30 minutes in the workout, 28 we spent with the Wave upside-down, being used like a retarded step, or being leaned on during abs. Only 2 measly exercises we done on the wavy side. Odd, doncha think?

I will say that one of the two was actually pretty hard. We balanced on it while doing curls. My core tightened way up trying to keep me stable. So that was good. And that's the only good thing I have to say about it. I will try a couple of the longer workouts to see if they at least use the rocker side more.

Here I am, rocking back and forth, swinging weights in my arms.
Please enjoy the view of my tush in spandex. Niiiiiiice.

I'm almost glad you gave the granola bar the thumbs down. At 160 calories I have to think there are better snack options available.
The wave looks fun! Keep us posted!

I love playing Frisbee! I actually play Ultimate, which is a team sport like soccer, only you toss a Frisbee instead of a ball. It's way fun (but you have to keep your nails short).

Would love to know if you go any results! I'm tempted to do the PX90, I hear good things about that one and I don't want to pay the money unless I know someone who has done it already.

I really like the Kashi bars. They can vary in calories/fat, so be sure to read each label. They are *quite* yummy though. My current favorite is the dried cherry and dark chocolate. Mmmmmmm!

Struggler - I generally eat 4 times/day and my "snack" in the afternoon has as many calories as my breakfast. So 160 isn't that big of a deal if it's for an item that has some good fiber and staying power. I combine it with some string cheese and a piece of fruit to get a good balance.

Sheila - you continue to amaze me!

Sher - I thought it looked fun too. Too bad it hasn't lived up to that.

Denise - You know I love me some free CVS stuff! hehehe

Honey - I am going to try it out again and I'll let you know, but I don't expect anything major.

Jess - I really like Kashi cereals, but I find most of their bars too hard. But I'll have to check that one out!

That makes sense, Tina, that your snacks are more substantial.
Me, I seem to spend the day lurching from one snack to the next, so I need to try to keep each one pretty small!
