Do Not Spit on the Floor

Rand and I dropped by his parents house for the night on our way out of town. They live in east Texas so as you can see, there are tons of beautiful trees on their property.

Rand's Mom's Daily Outfit Assessment: "You look so beautiful. Doesn't she look beautiful, Randall." I like Rand's mom. Can you tell why? hehe. Seriously, she's sweet.

After leaving their house, we headed to Jefferson, Tx. This sign was on display in the Jefferson Museum. I'm pretty sure it's a historical sign, not a current rule. Too funny.

What I Wore While Not Spitting on the Floor:

  • blue T (Old Navy)
  • cargo capris (Sonoma via Kohls)
  • bronze gladiator sandals (Target)
  • blue/tan scarf (Ross)
  • brass/tan bell necklace, yes I made tinkling noises all day (thrifted Goodwill)
  • brass bangles (thrifted Goodwill)

What I Ate While Trying the Local Cuisine:

  • breakfast: cream cheese filled pretzel (Schwann's)
  • lunch: Texas chili cornbread sandwich and broccoli salad (Kitt's Kornbread Sandwich & Pie Bar)
  • snack: cherry pie (Kitt's again)
  • dinner: pate, bread, ahi tuna w/ mango salsa, spinach, wine (Stillwater Inn)

As an extra bonus today, here is my future mother-in-law posing for us. Hi, Sandra!

I love love love this outfit! I've been wanting to try a scarf with a summery outfit and you have pulled it off to perfection - I'm extra inspired now!

Your future MIL looks stylin' too!

OMG - you are making me hungry! Seriously...there is such a thing as a cream cheese filled pretzel?! I need to call the Schwann's man.

Have you considered using a fill flash for your outdoor pics? I almost always use a flash outdoors. It keeps shadows off your face and picks up the outfit colors and details. It does sometimes blast away texture, though. You might want to experiment.

Future MIL looks and sounds like such a sweetie! (And she's absolutely right in her assessment, too.)

I am drooling over your dinner. Mango salsa is the best!

Heather - Thanks! I have been trying to rock the summer scarf all summer and every time I put it on, I take it back off b/c it's just wrong. Plus it's so hot here. But finally the weather and the look finally came together. So don't give up!

Diana - thanks! She is pretty cool. I like her. :)

Kasmira - Thanks for the advice. Sadly, I haven't even had a camera for the past few months - I've been stuck with my blackberry while I saved up money for a new camera. I have ordered one. (Yay!!) But it's just a point and shoot. Can you use a fancy flash with a point and shoot? Or better yet, do you have a suggestion for how to get my sister (a pro photog) to move to Texas??

The Other Tina - thanks! After this week, I feel like a fat slug. More veggies! STAT!!!!

Honeybunches - yep. She's a keeper. LOL

Sher - thanks! I tried to do your scarf halter shirt trick, but I looked like a patterned blob. I haven't given up yet though. I'll try again soon.

Kari - The mango salsa was definitely the best part!

Future MIL says: Schwans' sweet cream cheese pretzels rock! Thanks Tina for the non-photo-session-warning...that's how you made me look "natural". AND You did look so great in that scarf!
