$10 Shopping Restriction

After coming back from the Lane Bryant Blogger Conference, I found myself going a little shopping crazy. And I was not the only one. Sara of Bombshell Beauty and I were lamenting to each other about all the damage we were doing to out wallets, when, genius that she is, she suggested that we do a shopping ban for the month of July. As a lawyer I'm always trying to get a better deal for my client - me, this time - so you know I couldn't take the first offer. I had to negotiate. LOL. I remembered that Sal of Already Pretty had put herself on a $10 restricton for awhile and I really enjoyed reading about her adventures in making that money stretch. So we settled on a $10 per week spending limit, plus I'm allowed to spend money on new shorts b/c I had to return the ones I just bought and a girl needs shorts in the summer.

So...are any of you game to join Sara and I as we see how far we can stretch $10?

I'm going to try this. I'm going to have to be smart. Does makeup count? I am out of my favorite lip gloss (Bobbi Brown) and it costs more than $10!

I was considering a shopping ban for July myself. I can do $10.00 a week as long as it's only clothes, shoes, and accessories. I will make exceptions for supplies for DIY projects. In fact, I will post about this today and expand the challenge!

I just checked my checking account and wow - I have been out of control lately. I was thinking perhaps $25/week, but I am going to give $10 a week a go. I've gotten away from thrifting and it is something that I really want to get back too. Game on!

Bea if you want to try something else to stay within the $10..Bath and Body Works Liplicious has a selection on sale between $3 and $5each..either that or count that one as a necessity and then start the $10 LOL... I was pleasantly surprised about the Liplicious gloss in a pinch though :)

My spending has been out of control lately as well...I am going to give this challenge a try. Honestly, I really have no need to buy clothes probably ever again, but I admit I have a problem and can't just go cold turkey. This will be a good challenge for me!

I think that's a great idea. I'm always putting that kind of restriction on my shopping. Check out my metrostyle post:

Today is the last day of their $15 off $15 promotion. I got a pair of pumps for less than $9!

I wish I could try this, I really need to save some money. But I'll be visiting Florida in two weeks and have already bombarded my mom for money so I can spend. Maybe I can challenge myself in August. I'll be reading your blog to find out how you're doing on this adventure. GOOD LUCK.

Only $30 a month is my clothes/accessories/make-up shopping budget all the time, not just once in a while*. So I'm glad to see what other people do with little money.

(*I do make rare exceptions for great shoes...)
