Slugs on a Cat

We've started letting our cat outside again. He came in today with a slug stuck on him. How slow do you have to be to get a slug on you???

What I Wore While A Slug Attacked My Cat:

2010-06-11 combo
  • denim pencil skirt (Target)
  • faux wrap shirt (??? it's really old)
  • earrings (LoveErinDesigns)
  • flats (Steve Madden)
  • necklace (borrowed from Kimberly)

Copycattin' Myself

Can I copycat myself? Is that even possible? I've been envisioning this skirt mixed with a blue/white striped top for awhile. I gave it a whirl here, and while it got a lot of positive feedback, it really wasn't quite what I wanted. When I got this new striped top, I knew I wanted to try it again, but I was waiting a little while so I wouldn't have such similar outfits so close together. But when I saw how well Kimberly's necklace matched this skirt, I knew I couldn't wait any longer. And you know what? THIS is what I was envisioning in my head. Success! What do you think? Which do you like better.

Anyone Know a Good Hippo Podiatrist?

This ----------------> is why I don't do creative poses. I am an idiot. Yep. A complete and total idiot. I thought to myself "Oh, I'll do some silly poses like Kasmira. She always has fun with her pics and they look great." I forgot that Kasmira is also a dancer and therefor has grace and a lithe body. I look like a hippo in a costume getting my feet examined. ha! But I thought you might enjoy my idiocy or at least getting see a little more of this cool building I was in front of.

Today Random Photo Location: I think it's an old auto repair shop or some other industrial single story building that is now apartments. I think.

I hit the clearance racks at Target on my way home from work. To see a couple of the things that I bought, check out my new Facebook page.

What I Wore While Trying To Have Fun With My Photos:

2010-06-09 combo1

  • brown pinstriped, wide-leg pants (Gap)
  • animal print blouse (Lane Bryant)
  • sandals (compliments of Lane Bryant)
  • coral necklace (borrowed from Kimberly)
  • rose necklace (from vintage shop in NYC)
  • purse (compliments of CSN's Shoes Got Sole shop)*
  • stretchy bracelet (via Goodwill)
  • earrings (street vendor in Austin)
  • headband (Target)
* I did a CSN giveaway of this purse and I got one for myself too. Since it was winter when the giveaway happened, the weather wasn't really right for a woven purse. But now that it is summer, it was time to bust it out. I LOVED carrying this purse. It holds quite a bit for a clutch (usually I have to give up my wallet) and it felt good in my hand and tucked under my arm. My only complaint - it was a little hard to find the zipper to close it. Often, I just left it unzipped. I can already tell that I am going to be carrying this a lot this summer.

What I Ate That Had Zero Meat:

2010-06-09 combo

  • breakfast: Fiber One, skim greek yogurt (local dairy), blackberries
  • lunch: avocado & tomato sandwich (Which Wich), kale chips, yellow squash, orange
  • snack: SoyJoy, cheesestick, banana, 1/2 c. blueberries
  • dinner: homemade artichoke & feta pizza
  • dessert: low cal ice cream sandwich (Skinny Cow)

Total for the Day: 30 points, no exercise

_______________
CSN provided both purses. My opinion of this purse was in no way influenced by CSN.

CopyCat: Kimberly

I decided that since Kimberly was so awesome and generous to lend me one of her favorite necklaces, that I needed to do a little homage to both her and the necklace. So I decided to copycat her look from the last time she wore the necklace. Check out her original look (aren't her shoes to die for?? This girl has serious style.) I am so glad that I copied this look. I felt so polished and professional all day long. Thanks, Kimberly!

Today's Random Photo Location: carwash parking lot

I tried out some mad modeling skills with some great leaning against the wall in various positions (since the Lane Bryant photographer kept telling me how it can make a great relaxed photo) but all those pics looked idiotic. I am def not a model. So you get my basic pose. At least you can see all the clothing!

What I Wore At the Car Wash, Yeah:

2010-06-08 combo

  • black slacks (Lane Bryant)
  • white T (Target)
  • grey jacket (Lane Bryant via Goodwill)
  • sandals (compliments of Lane Bryant)
  • gold necklace, worn as bracelet (via Macys)
  • gold earrings (via Macys)
  • purse (inherited from my grandmother)
  • necklace (borrowed from Kimberly)
What I Ate That Wasn't As Good As I Remember It Being:

2010-06-08 food

  • breakfast: 1/2 c. nonfat greek yogurt (local dairy), 1/2 c Fiber One, 3 oz blackberries
  • lunch: 2 Hebrew National 97% fat free franks, 2 Whitewheat hotdog buns, Progresso Lite Zesty Vegetable soup, kale chips, yellow squash
  • snack: SoyJoy, orange, string cheese
  • dinner: Hoisin Glazed Chicken with Cabbage Slaw, garlic toast (forgot to make the rice, so we had this instead), 1 glass white wine
  • dessert: mini mincrowave cake * with blueberries, 10 almonds
* I don't use soda when I make this. I find that it makes the cake too gummy. I use unsweetened almond milk for a great cake that tastes like a normal cake, but is still super low in calories.

Total for the Day: 30 points, no exercise

Fiber is Your Friend

Kimberly has a wonderful coral colored necklace that I've been eyeballing from the first time she wore it. Well, I somehow convinced her that she and I should swap some items, including that necklace. It came to me with on simple restriction - I had to give it back to her after a week. Do you know what that means? Does it mean I only get to wear the lovely thing once before sending it back? NO! It means you are going to see me wear it every day this week, or at least until I can't find anything else to wear with it.

The dental hygenist thought it was a great necklace too. I was worried she might steal it from me while I was incapacitated on the chair, but she kept her fingers in my mouth and off the necklace. Whew! Close one!

What I Wore While Getting My Teeth Cleaned:

2010-06-07 combo

  • skirt (Lane Bryant)
  • blouse (Old Navy)
  • belt (Ross?)
  • shoes (compliments of Lane Bryant)
  • earrings (Target)
  • necklace (borrowed from Kimberly)
What I Ate That Had TOO Much Fiber:

2010-06-07 food

  • breakfast: skim greek yogurt (local farm), blackberries, Fiber One
  • lunch: homemade brocolli soup (not brocolli cheese soup, just brocolli), low cal hot dogs, orange
  • snack: Soy Joy, orange (not pictured: 3 points)
  • dinner: sausage link, kale chips, squash & basil salad
  • dessert: low fat ice cream sandwich (not pictured: 3 points)

You are now entering the world of TMI: I'm usually a pretty healthy girl, but I go on benders where I eat nothing but crap for a few months. That's where I've been recently. And since I just got back on the healthy food, let's just say it's been a little shocking to my body. Poor body. Mistreated with grease and sugar and salt. Then beat up with fruit and veggies. Luckily the body will adjust.

Total for the Day: 22.5 points (oops this is way too low. I need to be eating 29 or 30 right now, but I didn't count them until the next morning.)

Oh...Deer!

I adore these shoes. I hate these shoes. They're Oh Deer! brand shoes and they are so pretty, and well made and even have a lovely red sole. They are the height of fashion for bootties when I bought them and I bought them on sale. How can you go wrong? Sadly, I think the days of me being able to walk around in 4 inch heels are gone. These have been languishing in my closet for over a year. I think I've worn them 3 times total. I finally thought to myself "Well, mostly I just sit at my desk all day long, so I should really wear them." WRONG! After hobbling from the parking garage (which is directly across the street, so I hardly did any walking), I sat down and took them off and spent the rest of the day in my stocking feet. So professional I am.

So if any of you wear a size 8 and are still capable of walking in skyhigh shoes, let me know. We might be able to work out something of a trade. Otherwise I'll just donate them or stash them away for next years swap*, but I would rather they go another fashion girl instead of sitting in Goodwill.

*Erin, are we gonna try to do another swap this year??

  • black bead belt (via charity shop)
  • silver disc earrings (Target vis Goodwill)
What I Ate Because Rand Wasn't Hungry:

  • breakfast: alternative bagel, cheesy egg, cuties
  • lunch: lentil soup (homemade but not great), cheese on alternative bagel, 2 carrots
  • snack: pear, SoyJoy
