Questions for Lane Bryant Conference

I was at the mall getting some 1/2 price jewelry at J.C. Penney's Memorial Day Door Buster sale. It's right next to Lane Bryant, so I popped in to try on some clothes. I wasn't planning on buying anything, but I wanted to see what my current sizing is since I've put on a little weight lately. I wanted to know what size I needed when I selected my outfit at the Lane Bryant Blogger Conference.

Speaking of the conference, there are a couple of things I keep meaning to write, but I keep forgetting. Thankfully, R left me a comment today on this post and had a question she wants me to ask the designers, which reminded to ask all of you:

Do you have any questions for the merchants or designers at Lane Brant?

We're having a Q&A session at the conference, and I would love to be able ask them anything you want to know. So leave comments with any questions you have.

And another thing is from the press release that Lane Bryant put out about the conference. It says "Lane Bryant is bringing 13 of the Web's top full-figure fashion authorities to its Columbus headquarters on June 3 to celebrate the unique intersection of fashion and social media." OMG, y'all. I am one of only 13 people going to this thing. I knew it was a small group, but I had not idea it was going to be this intimate of a shindig. And I am one of the 13 "top full-figure fashion authorities" on the internet?? Wow! I blushed when I read that. Anyway, I don't usually toot my own horn, but reading that made me so proud. Can you tell that I am super excited about this conference?? Can't wait!

Hi!
I've been following your blog for a while and enjoying it very much but I think this is my first comment...so I'll start with a Hello!

I'm also on the cusp of plus size/missy size and I enjoy being able to shop in both size ranges, especially when combing the sale racks!

I don't know if I have a question for LB so much as a suggestion. The past few seasons I've seen them moving toward more and more dresses/tops with which one can't wear a really good bra and I wish that were not the case. I don't mind sporting a strapless sometimes but it would be nice to be able to wear a regular one with more styles - not to mention that having a bit more coverage can really make something appropriate and wearable for many more occasions. Also, I imagine that as a plus person, I'm not alone in needing that support!

That's my only real question... Thanks for the enjoyable reading and outfits!
Mary :-)

De-lurking to give you a couple of questions for LB - stuff friends and I have been grousing about for a couple of years.
1. Can LB begin to take into consideration multiple full-figure shapes? My chest and waist are a full size (or more) smaller than my butt, but most of the LB silhouettes are better on friends with big chests and some tummy. It wouldn't be a big deal if I could just run to another store to pick something up, but options are limited. I was (apparently one of the few) in love with Right Fit jeans - I didn't have to wear tunics to cover up the big gap at my waist (belts just result in a big wad of fabric around my middle).
2. I agree with the comment about tops that do not hide bra straps - I like to keep the girls in place even under a cute top.
3. The last three summers, LB seems to have developed ultra-casual lines and fairly dressy work lines - very little for those of us who can wear khakis and a top to work (which seems like most people now).
4. When the only t-shirt option at LB is cap or very short sleeves, I HAVE to go somewhere else. Cap sleeves cut off my arms (and most big girls' arms) at the worst possible point. I end up buying frumpy Lands End t-shirts and trying to shrink them just to avoid chunk-arm.
5. LB's jewelry line used to include some cheap, cute rings - I own scads that are finally showing their age and would love the option of picking up a few more. The stretchy rings are fine, but lack the class of earlier options.
Anyway, that is alot, I just wanted to give you some fodder for the Q&A and get some stuff off my chest.

The other Tina - Man, I wish I had a coupon!

MAMom - thanks! you are too sweet!

Sheila - yep. Total celebrity. I probably need to start wearing my sunglasses inside and at night. I don't want to be mobbed my all my fans. LOL

Mary - thanks for all your feedback. I talked to the people at LB and gave them your input (which is exactly the same as mine - hello! I need a bra to wear things). They were very receptive and took notes about it while we were talking. LB is trying to "find itself" right now and I think part if the strapless pheonominon is them trying to appeal to a younger crows. I will say that the store we went to in Ohio had a lot more full coverage tops than my store here in Dallas. They explained to me that that has a lot to do with the buyers and what things sell at the individual stores.

Leslie - thanks for delurking! Hi!

1- they are working on getting better fit options for all body types. It's actually their main priority. And Fit jeans are coming back! They're just revamping the system - they're going to use real sizes instead of the 1, 2, 3, etc.

2 - see above

3 - I gave them this bit of feedback, and again it seems to vary depending on what part of the country you are in and what the particular store buys.

4 - We talked about fit alot and they appreciated your input about the sleeves and the body fit.

5 - I totally forgot to ask them about the rings. Sorry! I'll send an email to their designer this week.
